Overview
Cometech Series J grips are designed specifically for heavy-duty woven textile webbing and high-tension belt materials that exceed the capacity range of the standard Series D vice-action grips — providing 10kN, 20kN, and 50kN capacity with wide jaw faces (50mm and 81mm) to grip full-width webbing specimens without edge-loading or slippage.
The GR-J010 covers general textile and webbing tensile testing up to 10kN in ambient laboratory conditions (0–100°C), while GR-J020 and GR-J02A both feature an 81mm jaw width and a broad operating temperature range of −30 to +200°C for safety-critical webbing testing under thermal conditioning — GR-J020 at 20kN and GR-J02A at 50kN for the most demanding high-strength belt and harness applications.
All three models conform to ASTM D5034 (breaking force and elongation of textile fabrics — grab method) and ASTM D5035 (strip method), making them the standard grip choice for fabric and webbing tensile testing on Cometech UTMs.
