The GBPI W401L is an advanced, compact infrared water vapor transmission rate tester designed for precise moisture permeability evaluation of plastic barrier films, laminated flexible packaging, sheets, coated papers, and pharmaceutical foils. Built in full conformance with standardized infrared photometric detection standards including ASTM F1249, ISO 15106-2, GB/T 26253, JIS K7129, and pharmaceutical YBB 00092003 guidelines, this space-saving instrument delivers rapid, highly sensitive moisture barrier verification for quality control and research facilities.

Accurate moisture barrier assessment is crucial to protecting food flavors, pharmaceutical potency, and sensitive electronics from moisture degradation. The GBPI W401L infrared water vapor transmission rate tester operates on the modulated infrared sensor principle: a prepared test specimen is positioned inside the sealed test chamber, dividing it into a high-humidity vapor chamber and an opposing dry nitrogen carrier gas chamber. Driven by the water vapor concentration gradient across the barrier membrane, moisture molecules diffuse into the carrier gas stream, which continuously sweeps them past an optical infrared absorption sensor. The absorption of specific infrared wavelength bands produces an electrical output directly calibrated to the water vapor transmission rate.

Compact Benchtop Architecture & High Sensitivity

Engineered for laboratories that require rapid sample testing without excessive bench footprint, the GBPI W401L integrates high-efficiency thermal regulation and sensor electronics inside a streamlined 440 × 680 × 380 mm housing. Its upgraded infrared detector provides an ultra-fine resolution of 0.0001 g/(m²·24h), allowing laboratories to characterize everything from high-barrier metallized films to standard packaging polyolefins.

Precise Thermodynamic Environment Regulation

The W401L features an integrated constant-temperature jacket maintaining test temperatures between 15 °C and 45 °C with ±0.2 °C stability, alongside dynamic dual-gas humidity generation spanning 5% to 90% RH (±2% RH) as well as 100% RH saturation. Automated carrier gas flow regulation ensures uniform laminar velocity across the test specimen surface.

The accompanying PC software interface provides full automated control, real-time transmission rate vs. time curves, certified standard reference film calibration routines, and password-protected data management compliant with modern laboratory quality systems.
