The GBPI GB-MCJ is an advanced, high-precision laboratory ink rub tester engineered to evaluate the abrasion resistance, scuff endurance, smear propensity, and surface adhesion bonding of printed ink layers, varnishes, and protective overcoats on flexible plastic films, paper labels, folding cartons, and corrugated packaging. Manufactured in strict conformity with premier printing quality standards—including ASTM D5264 (standard practice for surface abrasion resistance of printed materials by the Sutherland rub tester), TAPPI T830, and GB/T 7706—this instrument serves as the industry benchmark for print durability assurance.

During automated cartoning, pouch collation, palletizing, and retail transit, printed packaging surfaces undergo intense friction rubbing against adjacent packages or shipping carton interiors. Inadequately cured inks or poor ink-to-film adhesion causes unsightly scuffing, ink transfer, illegible barcodes, and compromised brand graphics. Functioning as a standardized ink rub tester, the GB-MCJ secures a printed test coupon to a flat testing bed and moves a weighted friction block faced with standard receptor paper across the specimen in a smooth, reciprocating arc under a calibrated normal force.

Multi-Friction Testing & Wet Rub Capability

The apparatus accommodates dry rub testing to simulate transit scuffing, wet rub testing with water or chemical solvents to simulate condensation and cleaning, and heated transfer testing. An integrated digital counter automatically terminates testing when preset cycles are achieved, allowing quantitative optical density comparison of ink loss before and after abrasion.

Disc Peeling Adhesion Verification

In addition to surface abrasion, the instrument suite supports standardized pressure-sensitive tape disk peeling tests conforming to GB/T 7707. By rolling standard adhesive tape across ink surfaces and executing high-speed peeling, converters can objectively verify ink layer anchoring strength on corona-treated polymer webs.

Widely adopted by flexographic printing plants, rotogravure converters, ink manufacturers, and consumer goods packaging QC teams, the GB-MCJ ensures robust ink adhesion and pristine graphic presentation throughout retail shelf life.
