  • Series N grips are specialized glass testing fixtures for compression, ring crush, angle bending, and flat compression testing — 3 models: GR-N010 Glass Compression (1kN, 18×18mm), GR-N01A Ring Crush for Glass Bending (1kN, 55×55mm), and GR-N020 Ring Crush for Glass Compression (2kN, 400×200mm, TAPPI T826).
  • GR-N010: 1kN, Ø9.5mm upper / Ø15.5mm lower ring crush, 100N min. load cell, 0–100°C, 2235g; GR-N01A: 1kN, Ø22.86mm upper / Ø52.07mm lower ring crush, 200N min. load cell, 0–100°C, 5420.5g; GR-N020: 2kN, 400×200mm jaw, 0.6mm thickness, 100N min. load cell, 0–100°C, 7202g.
  • Upper and lower ring crush pin sets sized per specimen geometry for glass compression, bending, and angle bending tests; GR-N020 supports large-format flat glass compression (400×200mm platen).
  • Compatible with Cometech universal testing machines; all N-series grips are rated 0–100°C for standard laboratory conditions.

Overview

Cometech Series N grips are purpose-built glass testing fixtures that replace standard flat-jaw grips with ring crush pin geometry — concentrating the applied compressive load through precisely sized upper and lower ring pins to generate a standardized stress distribution across glass specimens without edge contact or lateral slip.
GR-N010 uses small-diameter rings (Ø9.5mm upper / Ø15.5mm lower) for standard glass compression tests on 18×18mm specimens, while GR-N01A scales up to Ø22.86mm / Ø52.07mm rings for a 55×55mm specimen area for glass bending tests per established ring-on-ring protocols.
GR-N020 shifts to a large 400×200mm flat platen design for glass angle bending and flat compression testing, accommodating very thin glass sheets (0.6mm) at up to 2kN — the highest capacity in the N series.
