- Series G grips are compression platens and specialized compression fixtures for axial load testing of cans, brittle materials, springs, foam, and concrete — 14 models across 5 families: standard compression (GR-G010/G01A/G01B/G01C/G01D), self-aligning (GR-G02B/G020/G02C), self-aligning concrete platens (GR-G03C/G03D), spring platens (GR-G040/G04A/G04B), and return-to-zero jig (GR-G050).
- Capacity range: 500N–20kN; max. platen diameter: Ø50–Ø150mm; temperature range: −70 to +200°C (model dependent); min. load cell: 50N–500N.

Overview
Cometech Series G compression platens provide flat, self-aligning, and spring-loaded contact surfaces for axial compression testing of materials and components that cannot be tested with standard tensile grips — including metal cans, brittle ceramic and plastic blocks, springs, foam pads, and concrete cylinders.
The five families address distinct test requirements: the GR-G01 standard platens cover the widest capacity range (10–20kN) in four diameter sizes for general rigid material compression; the GR-G02 self-aligning platens allow automatic angular correction under eccentric loading; GR-G03 self-aligning platens are optimized for concrete cylinder compression; GR-G04 spring platens apply a constant preload for spring and foam testing; and GR-G050 is a return-to-zero calibration jig for zero-setting the test machine before compression tests.
Temperature ratings extend down to −70°C (GR-G01 and GR-G02 families) for cryogenic compression testing, with upper limits of 100–200°C depending on model.
