Cometech QC-805P PSTC Tape Initial Adhesion Tester | 21.5° Incline, Φ7/16" & Φ7/32" SUS Balls, PSTC-6

  • PSTC-type tape initial adhesion (tack) tester using a fixed 21.5° (21°30') inclined slope to measure the rolling distance of a steel ball on the adhesive tape surface as the tack value.
  • Includes Φ7/16" × 3 (SUS) and Φ7/32" × 5 (SUS) stainless steel balls; slope length 6.5 inches; result is the average of five test runs.
  • Simple lightweight benchtop instrument — 461 g, no power required, compact 6.5 × 6.5 × 21 cm footprint.
  • Test procedure: clean runway and ball with solvent, stick 1" wide × 15" long tape specimen, release ball from the release bar, measure roll-stop distance; repeat 5 times for average value.

Overview

Cometech QC-805P is the PSTC-method version of the tape initial adhesion (ball tack) tester.
Unlike the QC-805 / QC-805A which use ball number (size) as the tack index, the QC-805P measures how far a defined steel ball rolls along the adhesive surface before stopping — a longer rolling distance means lower tack, and a shorter distance indicates higher initial adhesion.
The incline is fixed at 21.5° (21°30') per PSTC-6 requirements, and the result is the average of five consecutive test runs.
This is a compact, passive instrument with no power required, designed for benchtop use.

Test Procedure

  1. Clean the runway and steel ball surface using solvent.
  2. Stick a 1-inch wide × 15-inch long tape specimen adhesive-side up at the front of the runway.
  3. Place the steel ball above the release bar using a clean, dry clip.
  4. Release the ball to roll freely down the slope and onto the tape specimen.
  5. Measure the distance the ball travels on the tape before stopping.
  6. Repeat 5 times and calculate the average value.
