Overview

The Cometech QC-662B Vicat Heat Deflection Tester determines Vicat softening temperature (VST) by applying a fixed force (10N or 50N) through a standard Ø1 mm test head while the temperature rises at a controlled rate.
When the penetration/deflection reaches the specified value, the system records the temperature and automatically stops and starts the cooling process.
Each working station includes its own temperature and deflection sensors, and the display shows real-time data for each specimen during the test.

Specimen requirements (important)

  • Use at least two flat, smooth, parallel specimens with thickness 3 to 6.5 mm and area at least 10 × 10 mm² or Ø10 mm.
  • If specimen thickness is above 6 mm, reduce it by half on one side and keep the other side unchanged.
  • If specimen thickness is below 2.5 mm, stack the specimen with fewer than 3 other materials to make the combination at least 3 mm thick.
