Cometech QC-633A Electronic Drop Dart Impact Tester | ASTM D1709 / GB-9639, Method A & B, Pneumatic Clamp
-
- Electronic drop dart impact tester for evaluating the impact resistance of plastic films using method A (Ø38.1mm, 66cm drop) and method B (Ø50.8mm, 152.4cm drop) as defined in ASTM D1709 / GB-9639.
-
- Pneumatic clamping (70–80 psi) holds the film specimen instantly on the Ø127mm specimen holder for consistent test conditions.
-
- Electronic magnet release (Method A/B) for accurate dart drop; manual release also available as backup.
-
- 20 specimens tested per batch; results (rupture/no rupture, weight, height) are recorded to determine the 50% failure weight — the film's impact resistance reference value.

Overview
Cometech QC-633A Electronic Drop Dart Impact Tester measures plastic film impact resistance using the free-falling dart method (ASTM D1709, GB-9639).
The dart is fixed at the top of the machine; the operator selects the dart weight and adjusts the drop height, then releases the dart via electronic magnet onto the pneumatically clamped film specimen.
After 20 tests, the operator records broken/unbroken results at each weight and height combination to calculate the weight at which 50% of specimens fail, which defines the film's impact resistance.
Method A vs Method B
-
- Method A: Impact head Ø38.1 mm (fiber-reinforced plastic); drop height 66 cm; dart weight range 50 g – 6 kg.
-
- Method B: Impact head Ø50.8 mm (stainless steel); drop height 152.4 cm; dart weight range 300 g – 6 kg.
-
- Results from Method A and Method B cannot be compared directly to each other (different dart sizes, heights, and impact energies).
