Cometech QC-102 Water Absorption Tester | Paper & Cardboard Moisture Absorbency (100 cm² Test Area)
- Water absorption tester for measuring moisture absorbency of paper and cardboard (treated or untreated).
- Uses a 100 cm² test range: pour liquid to saturate absorption, pour off excess, then measure weight difference before/after.
- Works for absorption of water, oil, and other liquids (depending on your procedure).
- Applied industry: Paper (packaging quality control and lab testing).

Overview
Cometech QC-102 Water Absorption Tester evaluates moisture absorbency—an important characteristic of paper—on various paper and cardboard materials (treated or untreated).
The specimen is fixed on a 100 cm² test area, liquid is poured to allow complete absorption, excess liquid is poured off, and a balance is used to measure the weight difference before and after absorption to calculate water absorption.
This method supports routine comparison between paper/board grades and helps monitor packaging material consistency.
Technical Specifications
Test principle & setup
| Tester type | Water absorption (moisture absorbency) tester for paper and cardboard. |
|---|---|
| Test area | 100 cm². |
| Measured value | Absorbed liquid calculated from weight difference before/after using an external balance. |
| Applicable liquids | Water, oil, and other liquids (per your test procedure). |
| Applied industry | Paper. |
Recommended workflow (practical)
- Fix specimen in the QC-102 holder (100 cm² test range).
- Pour liquid until specimen absorption is complete, then pour off excess liquid.
- Use a balance to measure specimen weight before and after to compute absorption from weight difference.
