The uv weathering test chamber (Model BT UV-SI-260) manufactured by Bayerteq is a high-performance accelerated artificial weathering instrument designed to evaluate the climatic endurance of polymers, plastic piping, automotive components, and protective coatings. Engineered in strict compliance with ISO 4892 standards (ISO 4892-1, ISO 4892-3) and ASTM G154, this advanced environmental simulator reproduces the damaging effects of outdoor sunlight, elevated operating temperatures, condensing moisture, and rain spray within a drastically accelerated laboratory timeframe.

Polymeric materials exposed to outdoor weather inevitably undergo photo-oxidative degradation resulting in color shifting, gloss reduction, chalking, surface micro-cracking, crazing, embrittlement, and catastrophic loss of tensile strength. The Bayerteq uv weathering test chamber exposes test specimens to alternating cycles of controlled ultraviolet radiation, thermal soaking, and condensation humidity. By concentrating critical short-wavelength UV energy and moisture exposure, laboratories can replicate years of outdoor damage in just days or weeks of automated chamber operation.

UV Weathering Test Chamber Capabilities & Optical Architecture

The BT UV-SI-260 series integrates robust structural engineering with intelligent closed-loop environmental controls:

  • Fluorescent UV Lamp Array: Equipped with 8 air-cooled 40W fluorescent UV lamps (1160 mm tube length). Standard configurations utilize UVA-340 lamps to perfectly replicate natural solar cutoff between 290 nm and 400 nm, while UVB-313 lamps can be installed for extreme acceleration testing.
  • Dynamic Closed-Loop Irradiance Control: Real-time radiometer feedback continuously regulates lamp output from 0.3 to 20 W/m² at 340 nm, maintaining standardized irradiance setpoints such as 0.76 W/m² and 0.83 W/m² throughout tube lifespan.
  • Black Panel Temperature (BPT) Regulation: Precision Pt100 temperature sensors monitor and control specimen surface temperatures between 35 °C and 80 °C, with overall chamber temperatures reaching up to 90 °C (±2 °C).
  • Condensation & Water Spray Systems: Reproduces 100% condensing humidity (≥95% RH) generated by hot water evaporation in the bottom reservoir, complemented by a programmable direct water spray system fed by a built-in water purification tank.
  • High-Capacity Specimen Fixtures: Accommodates up to 24 flat test panels (75 × 300 mm) mounted on anodized aluminum specimen racks at a standardized 50 mm distance from the radiation source.

Controlled via a full-color programmable touchscreen PLC with Ethernet and USB data logging, this uv weathering test chamber stores up to 100 customized multi-segment weathering profiles, providing automated cyclic testing and traceable quality reporting.
