The Bayerteq BT FWV Series Falling Weight Impact Tester is a heavy-duty, high-precision laboratory test system engineered to determine the resistance to external blows of thermoplastic pipes, fittings, electrical conduits, and inspection chambers. Testing conforms to international standards determining True Impact Rate (TIR) and the 24-hour round-the-clock test method.

Designed and built under European engineering standards, the BT FWV series combines structural rigidity with advanced automated safety. Equipped with a motorized carriage, digital optical height encoders, and a rapid-response pneumatic anti-rebound catch mechanism, the system ensures each striker drop executes cleanly from the exact programmed height without secondary bounces interfering with the test specimen.

Key Advantages

  • Extreme Test Heights: Modular frame designs accommodate drop heights from standard 2,000 mm up to an expansive 5,000 mm for demanding international standards.
  • Automated Anti-Rebound Catch: High-speed mechanical catch system prevents the striker from hitting the sample a second time upon bouncing.
  • Universal Pipe Cradle: Heavy-duty V-block specimen support aligns pipes concentric to the striker line, accommodating diameters from small conduits up to DN 1600 mm.
  • Siemens Industrial Automation: Touchscreen HMI and Siemens PLC manage motorized positioning, drop release, and safety interlocking.

Precision Mechanical & Electronic Features

  • Motorized Height Positioning: Effortlessly adjust the drop carriage to any preset height via the touchscreen; servo drive eliminates manual ruler measurement errors.
  • Pneumatic Anti-Rebound Catch: Immediately intercepts the striker as soon as it bounces off the pipe, eliminating false damage caused by secondary impacts.
  • Low-Friction Guide Columns: Precision-ground guide shafts and low-friction bearings guarantee true vertical free-fall trajectory with negligible friction loss.
  • Interchangeable Striker (Tup) System: Quick-change mechanism permits rapid switching between ISO hemispherical strikers and ASTM conical/flat tups.
  • Full Enclosure Safety Interlock: Transparent impact-resistant enclosure protects lab personnel; test execution is locked out whenever safety doors are open.

Advanced Siemens SIMATIC HMI Control Software

Bayerteq falling weight impact testers are equipped with intuitive and powerful control software designed for ease of use, configurability, and full compliance with industry standards:

Siemens SIMATIC HMI Touchscreen Control Software for Bayerteq Impact Testers
  • Automated Test Execution: Supports both the Round-the-clock (TIR) method (ISO 3127 / EN 744) and the Staircase method (EN 1411 / ASTM D2444).
  • Velocity & Energy Tracking: High-precision photocells measure real impact velocity and verify free-fall energy against theoretical benchmarks.
  • Recipe & Batch Management: Save and recall test parameters including pipe diameter, wall thickness, standard designation, striker mass, and operator codes.
  • Pass/Fail Statistical Evaluation: Real-time calculation of failure rates, impact counts, and automated compliance logging.

Available Series & Models

Bayerteq impact testers are modularly structured into three distinct configurations to suit various specimen geometries and pipe diameters:

1. FWI 630mm / 1000mm

Standard Compact Series: Ideal for standard municipal, drainage, and conduit pipe testing up to DN 630 mm or DN 1000 mm. Features multi-tube guided frame, automatic safety door, and drop heights up to 2,000 mm.
