Overview
Cometech QC-601B Manual Forming Machine is a manual thermos press used to provide specific pressure conditions for forming rubber and plastic specimens.
The machine uses parallel upper and lower platens; material or a mold is placed between them and a hand-operated jack applies the desired force, which can be read from the oil-pressure gauge.
It is commonly used for powder compaction, lamination work, parts assembly and for preparing standard test samples for tensile, impact and color-comparison testing.

Key features & functions
- Parallel-pressure platen design helps maintain uniform pressure distribution on the mold or specimen.
- Jack-driven closing action lets the operator gradually build pressure while monitoring the oil-pressure gauge.
- Suitable for compacting powders, laminating sheets, and assembling small parts prior to mechanical or color tests.
- Provides a repeatable forming environment so specimens for tensile, impact or other tests can be produced consistently.
Configuration, options & typical use
- Multiple pressure-capacity versions (5–50 tons) allow selection based on specimen size and force demand.
- Platen size configuration (25 × 25 cm standard with 30 × 30 cm option) supports different mold sizes and sample formats.
- Often paired with universal testing machines and specimen punches in Cometech’s specimen preparation product family.
